Morales, City Manager G:~,t~:~s 101612020 I 2: 54 EDT October 6, 2020 Motion by the Human Rights Committee The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to inform the Mayor and the Commission of a motion made by the Human Rights Committee at their meeting on October 5, 2020. MOTION: At the October 5, 2020 Human Rights Committee meeting, the committee passed a motion recommending to the Mayor and City Commission that the recurring expenditure enhancement of $21,000 for "Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter'', refined during the September 15, 2019 Commission meeting, be broadened to include any direct services, not just shelter or housing, for any victim of a crime. The Human Rights Committee encourages the Miami Beach Commission to allocate the necessary funding to encompass victims of all crimes and all needs. The recurring expenditure enhancement of $21,000 for "Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter" should be broadened to "Direct Victim Services" including, but not limited to, emergency food, clothing, transportation, hotels, relocation, necessary repairs, etc. Motion made by: Clare McCord, Vice Chair Seconded by: Dale Stine The motion passed unanimously The Human Rights Committee is comprised of the following members: • Alan B.
