SUBJECT: Motion from the Committee on the Homeless
The purpose of this Letter To Commission is to transmit the following motion approved
unanimously by the Committee on the Homeless at its October 13, 2020 meeting:
Motion:
Today it came to the Committee’s attention that the City didn’t renew the Lazarus Project, which
is designed to medicate the Mentally ill homeless, and we urge the City Commission to add this
item back on the budget and to refund it not as a pilot but as permanent founded activity.
This is an area we can’t take out. The Committee was not consulted nor communicated. The
public were not given an opportunity to speak on this. Several Commissioners were under the
impression this item was automatically included on the budget.
This is an essential service that affects the entire community.
