Fee: $150 registration fee + $20 monthly fee
Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center and MBFD Station 2
In a joint effort, the Miami Beach Fire Department and Miami Beach Parks and Recreation
Department will be starting the Miami Beach Fire Cadet program – the first of its kind in Miami
Beach. High schoolers interested in firefighter career specializations can register for this program,
which will provide hands-on experience, and a better understanding of the daily responsibilities
of a Miami Beach firefighter.
The program is open to Miami Beach students in grades 9-12. Participants will attend weekly
Sunday sessions from January through May of 2021. Coursework will include a physical and
academic portion with hands-on training in first aid, fire prevention and firefighting skills.
Registration fee is $150 and will be open from December 15, 2020 to January 15, 2021 or until
all spots are filled. Participants must also pay a $20 monthly fee for miscellaneous expenses. To
