SUBJECT: Miami Beach Police Departme Annual Holiday Toy Giveaway Event
This Letter to the Mayor and Commission is to extend an invitation to attend the Miami Beach
Police Department's annual Holiday Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 12" from 9:00 a.m. till
approximately 2:00 p.m. This year due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will be delivering the toys to the 300 registered children at their residences within the City of Miami Beach. In compliance with
CDC guidelines, officers from the Miami Beach Police Department and volunteers from the Army
Corps of Engineers will begin loading police cars at 9:00 a.m. in front of the department with toys
that have been sanitized. The officers will then deliver the toys to the registered family.
Each year, through the generosity of the Miami Beach community (private citizens, local
businesses, civic organizations and the LGBT Visitors Bureau, and many more), funds are donated
to the Miami Beach Police Athletic League (PAL) enabling the Miami Beach Police Department to
purchase and provide toys to the children of Miami Beach. For many, this may be the only toy
they receive this year. The joy and happiness this event brings to these children make the event
extremely rewarding for all those involved.
