SUBJECT: SOUTH BEACH TROLLEY SERVICE GRANT AWARD
The Transportation and Mobility team is excited to report a grant award of $1.25 million
for a third year in a row from the Florida Department of Transportation (FOOT) Public
Transit Service Development Program for operation of the South Beach Trolley service
( attachment).
The grant program is designed to provide up to three years start-up funding for new public
transit projects and can cover up to 50% of the operating costs of the service. The City
has secured a total of $4.93 million under this FOOT grant program over a six-year period
since inception of the Miami Beach Trolley service in 2014.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FOOT) conducted an evaluation of your submitted proposal per
Sections 341.051, 20.23(3}{a) and 334.048/(3), Florida Statutes (F.S.), and Rule Chapter 14-73, Florida
Administrative Code (F.A.C.), Public Transportation. Based on the established criteria and available funding
sources, City of Miami Beach has been awarded Service Development Program funds for the below project:

$5,001,450.00
Awarded Funding
$1,250,000.00
Please be advised that the funding award cited above requires local funds from the City of Miami Beach to match
the State funds programmed for this project. Therefore, please provide certification of available local funds in the
amount of $3,751,450.00 to the District no later than January 1, 2021. Funding is subject to the availability of an
annual appropriation by the Florida Legislature (the spending authority). Prior to commencement of any work or
services, City of Miami Beach must enter into a State Funded Agreement with FOOT.
