COMPLETE STREETS COMMUNITY AWARD
I am pleased to report that the Miami Beach Transportation and Mobility Department has received
the Complete Streets Community Award at the 2021 Safe Streets Summit. This award is in
recognition of three innovative pilot projects developed by the Department and implemented in
2020 in collaboration with business and neighborhood associations, stakeholders, and other city
departments. The pilot projects included:
• Washington Avenue road diet, parklets, and parking-protected bike lanes (first in Miami-
Dade County)
• Flamingo Park neighborhood open/slow streets (first in Miami-Dade County)
• Ocean Drive pedestrianization
This award reaffirms the Department's commitment to prioritizing pedestrians and bicyclists and
advancing the City's strategic vision of becoming less car-centric.
