DATE: Ap ril 19, 2021 SUBJECT: PARKS & RECREATIONAL FACILITIES ADVISORY BOARD MOTIONS The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to inform the Mayor and Commission of the two motions passed by the Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board at its meeting on April 15, 2021: M O T IO N 1: The Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board recognizes the significance of the need for lighting in Flamingo Park and as such, strongly supports the fast tracking of all lighting projects at Flamingo to be done this year or as soon as possible. Motion Made by: Jonathan Fryd Motion Seconded by: Sean Smith Motion Passes: Unanimously Members Present by phone for Motion: Carolina Jones, Sean Smith, David Berger, David Nguah, Joseph Hernandez, Shannon Koonin, Stephanie Rosen, Elizabeth Resnick, Jonathan Fryd, Paul Stein M O T IO N 2 : Due to the extreme shortage of open / active space in our City, the Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board urges the Commission to prioritize increases to active spaces within our parks. Further, we recommend that no open space be removed from our parks without significant due diligence and consideration. In particular, we would stress the urgent need for open play spaces in Flamingo Park.
