SUBJECT: COVID-19 Testing Update
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission ("L TC") is to provide an update on the COVID-19
testing site at 17 Street and Convention Center Drive . Miami -Da de County has continued to
operate this drive-up PCR testing site through their contract with NOMI Health. To date, over
359,000 tests have been administered at this location.
The City has been notified by Miami-Dade County that as of June 26, 2021, they will no longer
cover the costs associated with their current testing sites nor the testing cost to the patient.
Given the abundance of testing locations in Miami Beach -including various CVS and
Walgreens pharmacies, urgent care centers and private medical practices -we feel these
providers will be able to successfully meet the testing demands of our community.
I would like to thank the City and County staff that has been working diligently to protect the
health of our community during the pandemic. I look forward to welcoming our guests at the
Miami Beach Convention Center as the building continues its reopening for the upcoming
Paraiso Miami Beach Swim Week and Cabana Show in early July.
