SUBJECT: Behavioral/Mental Health Services Annual Summary Report
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the status
of our Nurse Enhancement Initiative for Behavioral Health/Mental Health youth support services
from August 2020 through June 2021 for North Beach Elementary, Miami Beach South Pointe
Elementary, Miami Beach Fienberg Fisher K-8, Biscayne Beach Elementary, Treasure Island
Elementary, Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center, Miami Beach Nautilus Middle School, and
Miami Beach Senior High School.
Overall, 402 youth received 2,638 mental health support services in the 2020-2021 school year
through June 2021 from the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Social Worker) in all Miami Beach
feeder public schools both on-site and via telehealth. This is a 40% increase in services when
compared to the prior year. The below provides the number of services provided to youth per the
updated reporting procedure at each Miami Beach feeder school during the 2020-21 school year:

These enhanced behavioral services will continue in the 2021-22 school year and include on-site
and virtual access to a licensed clinical social worker to provide services including, but not limited
to, the following:

o Disruptive Behavior
o Depression
o Stress Management
o Family Issues
