Hudak, City Mana~ DATE: September 14, 2021 SUBJECT : International Coastal Cleanup 2021 I am pleased to announce that the City of Miami Beach is collaborating with Volunteercleanup.org for the Ocean Conservancy's 36th Annual International Coastal Cleanup Day on September 18, 2021. The event brings together volunteers to collect litter and debris on roadsides, coastal areas, lakes and waterways throughout the U.S. COVANTA With special th,rnks t o t he Benjamin & Gloria Joannou. Jr. Family Conservation Fu nd The mIssIon of Ocean Conservancy is to educate the public on issues of maritime pollution and to use the information collected from the cleanup to help drive policy. Last year, approximately 1 million volunteers from this international event collected over 20 million pounds of litter. Miami-Dade had a total of 1,058 participants that collected 7,248 pounds of trash. This year, there will be 9 cleanup sites throughout Miami Beach: Check-in Location Site boundary Nikki Beach South Pointe Pier to 3 Street Lummus Park & 11 Street 8 Street to 16 Street Collins Park 16 Street to 23 Street Palms Hotel 30 Street to 39 Street Eden Rock Hotel 39 Street to 50 Street Indian Beach Park 50 Street to 60 Street North Beach Bandshell 70 Street to 79 Street (Flagship site) North Shore Oceanside 79 Street to 87 Street Park (Pavilion #8301) Pine Tree Park Entrance Pine Tree Park The City of Miami Beach team including Parks and Recreation, Ocean Rescue, Property Management, Public Works -Sanitation, and Environment and Sustainability will collaborate with event organizers to support the event with city services.
