Hispanic Heritage Month 2021 Celebrations
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to announce the cultural programming for the Hispanic
Heritage Month 2021 celebrations.
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually from September 15 to October 15 recognizing
the long and significant presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans in North America. The City of
Miami Beach is pleased to announce events throughout September and October to promote
Hispanic culture through City-sponsored programs Miami Beach OnStage!, MB Parks and
Recreation, the North Beach Bandshe/1, and the Hispanic Affairs Committee.

*In partnership with Community Arts & Culture presents performances by Barrio Abaja, Fabi
World Music and DJ Ephniko Selector. Singer/ songwriter and multi-instrumentalist FABI is an
international touring artist based in Miami. His music carries a wide blend of world rhythms,
along with a powerful and original sound. Grupo Barrio Abajo, aims to make known
internationally the musical heritage of Carnival and the entire Colombian Caribbean such as
cumbia, bullerengue, porro, and chande.

Cortadito's focus is on performing the traditional Cuban music of the early 20th century .
From Montuno, Guaracha, Boleros, Nengon , and Bolero Son, this dynamic ensemble brings
the listener back to a time when Trio Matamoros, or Ignacio Piniero ruled the Cuban music
world.

Elastic Bond infuses an uplifting sound self-described as a psychedelic tropical soul. Venezonix's
Afro-Venezuelan rhythm sounds are created with a mix between traditional Venezuelan
instruments with futuristic beats. DJ Kumi, one of Miami's most eclectic turntable masters will
spin a selection of Latin music.
