Hudak, City Managt},!('f \ November 30, 2021 SUBJECT: UPDATE ON ACCEPTANCE OF CREDIT/DEBIT CARD USAGE FOR RESIDENTIAL TOWS The purpose of this LTC is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the acceptance of credit/debit cards for residential tow payments. At the Commission meeting of October 27, 2021, Rafael Andrade, on behalf of Beach Towing Services Inc., stated the company would, as a pilot program, accept credit and debit cards as forms of payment, but only from City residents. Manny Diaz, on behalf of Tremont Towing Inc., later confirmed they would also accept credit and debit card payments from City residents. The below tables show the total residential credit/debit transactions processed by Beach Towing and Tremont Towing, since inception of their program: BEACH TOWING (10/27 /21-11 /29 /21) Total Number of Tows 542 # of Residential Tows 27 # of Credit Card Payments 5 # of Debit Card Payment 8 TREMONT TOWING (11/8/21-11/29/21) Total Number of Tows 338 # of Residential Tows 21 # of Credit Card Payments 4 # of Debit Card Payment 3 *Start date to accept credit/debit cards, resulted in the difference in total number of tows To pay using a credit or debit card, the resident will need to be the vehicle owner, have a Miami Beach address on their driver's license and present the vehicle registration with information matching the driver license. In addition, Beach Towing requires a second form of ID. Both companies have posted signage at their businesses with these requirements. Additionally, to ensure towing staff has been properly trained, parking staff conducted calls to both companies, identifying themselves as a City resident and inquiring if they would be able to pay for their tow utilizing a credit card. Staff answering these calls at both companies provided the correct information.
