Hudak, City Manag r January 10, 2022 Appointment of Frank Quintana as Chief Information Officer, Information Technology Department The purpose of this L TC is to update the Commission on the status of a key personnel appointment. The resignation of Chris Sarandos, Chief Information Officer has created a vacancy for this key position. During his tenure he led the department through change and growth, and I am grateful to him for his contributions to our City and to our government. For the Information Technology (IT) Department, I am pleased to announce the selection of Frank Quintana as the next Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the City of Miami Beach. He has been with the City since August 2014 and previously served five years as the Division Director of IT Operations. In January 2020 he was named the Deputy Chief Information Officer and was responsible for driving innovation, technology strategic planning and overseeing the design, release, and maintenance of all technology services and systems. Under his leadership, the IT Department built the technical foundation to completely modernize the City's operations. As the City faced the COVID pandemic, the IT team was able to quickly transition the City to hybrid work and implemented many digitization solutions to improve both internal and citizen services. I have worked closely with Frank as he served as Interim CIO since August of 2021, and I am confident that he is the right person to continue to lead our IT Department and our technology initiatives. He is a dedicated leader who not only has the industry and institutional knowledge, but the vision required to be successful in this role. Frank has more than 23 years of diverse senior level IT experience in the private and public sector, including small and large corporations, professional sports, and entertainment. Prior to joining the city, Frank spent eleven seasons with the Miami Dolphins where he managed daily IT services and oversaw technology at Hard Rock Stadium as well as the Dolphins football training facility. During his tenure, he also managed technical event operations for the Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, University of Miami Hurricanes, Orange Bowls, Super Bowls, and many international events. Frank holds his bachelor's degree from Barry University in Information Technology, is a nationally Certified Government Chief Information Officer through Florida State University and is certified Lean Six Sigma at Florida International University.
