This year’s event will be livestreamed from the North Beach Bandshell stage starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 13. “We’re fortunate to have so many talented young people who live in Miami Beach,” said Miami Beach Interim City Manager Raul J. Aguila. “The Miami Beach Youth Music Festival grew out of a desire to highlight the most gifted young performers from our city before they enter the national stage.” Miami Beach Rock Ensemble and Ceci Leon were selected as the headline performers for this year’s event. Featured acts include 21 Hearts 1 Beat, Alex Tanev, Arrowhead, Avalanche, Chloe Cantor, Golden Roses, Himalayan Salt Band, Isabella Rose Sky, Isabella Velasquez, Jake Aleman, Julia Grace, Jecc Jazz Bootcamp Ensemble, Leah Nicole, Malena Kingston, Nina Marie, Not Yet Published, Pinguino Morado, Sunset Four, Visions and Ymu Jazz. All of the artists had to be 18 or younger from a mix of genres, including rock, jazz, Latin, electronic, folk, classical, funk or the spoken word. Participants had to be able to perform live and play a musical instrument with at least one person from each act who lives in Miami Beach or goes to school in Miami Beach. A committee selected the performers from a pool of 33 applications. “This year’s performances include a range of young rockers, folkie singer-songwriters, next- generation jazz musicians and gifted instrumentalists on piano, violin and even the harp,” added James Quinlan, executive director of The Rhythm Foundation.
