Event: Black History Month Celebration

The City of Miam i Beach will be celebrating Black History Month by recognizing the
heritage, accomplishments, and culture of African Americans throughout the month of
February . Activities include culinary lessons on Facebook live, "Soul Stories " readings,
and more. The month-long festivities will culminate with a special celebration at North
Shore Park. Visit miamibeachparks.com for a list of various activities throughout the
month.
Event: The Florida and Dance Associations "Miami Meltdown Competition"
Date: February 5, 2022

Location: Florida Memorial University 15800 NW 42 nd Ave, Miami Gardens
The City of Miami Beach Mauve Crew Hip Hop Dance Team has their first competition of
the season . They will be competing in the Florida Cheer and Dance Association's Miami
Meltdown Competition. Come out and cheer them on .
Event: Movie in the Park (Black History Edition)

Bring your blankets and enjoy a fun night under the stars watching the box office hit 42.
Pods will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Free popcorn. Refreshments will

Miami Beach Parks and Recreation invites you to bring your appetite to the City's 3rd
annual plant-based African American, Caribbean, and Hispanic inspired Soul Vegan
Festival. Enjoy a day of music, games, and delicious food with the family. Admission is
free, food and drinks for sale.

Company

Miami Beach OnStage! in partnership with the Peter London Global Dance Company,
presents "Ritual Body ." Experience a magnificent showcase of the technical virtuosity and
performance prowess of Miami's iconic multi-cultural contemporary dance company, The
Peter London Global Dance Company. Repertoire includes Peter London's Contemporary
and Afro-Caribbean dance fusion choreography "CALYPSO", Justin Rapaport's
"FROSTIES", Brooke Logan's "EOMEONI: and Gentry Isaiah George's "One Stolen Kiss".
Event: North Beach Social Featuring Paperwater and Friends (in celebration of
Black History Month}

Location: North Beach Bandshell (7275 Collins Avenue}
The North Beach Social is free the third Thursday of each month. Enjoy a night of music
at the Bandshell, featuring top South Florida-based musicians. The February 17 edition
features Paperwater and friends.
Paperwater is a Miami-based electronic music production duo, formed by Daygee Kwia
and Eddy Samy. The friends met on their high school football team, and bonded over their
love of experimental music and art. They released their first single in 2017 and soon began
playing live shows . Some highlights include opening sets for Flying Lotus, Mura Masa,
SOHN and Lido, with festival slots at Middlelands, Ill Points, and Electric Daisy Carnival.
Paperwater has recently hosted a musical residency at the Faena Art Center and
showcased an immersive experience at the Frost Museum of Science's planetarium.
The duo's sound , heavy on the Moog and Ableton samplers, can best be described as a
mix of alternative electronic and Hip Hop, with hints of indie. This performance will include
a selection of guest artists and vocalists, to celebrate the launch of their new release on

Event: Random Acts of Kindness Day
Date: February 17, 2022
Time: 3:00 pm
Location: All After-school Programs
Participants registered in the after-school programming will be spreading kindness through
a sunflower arts & crafts project at each facility. Each participant will be asked to give their
finished project to a family member as a gesture of love and kindness.

from the City's after-school participants, entertainment, food, crafts and more. Admission
is free and refreshments will be available for sale .
Event: Parents Night Out
Date: February 25, 2022
Time: 6:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m.
Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Avenue)
Fee: $10 / participant
Parents/ guardians deserve a night off! Register your child to enjoy an evening of fun .
Activities for children K-8 include arts and crafts , special surprise guest, ice skating holiday
movie and snacks. Dinner will be provided . Register at register.miamibeachparks.com.
