Miami Beach residents can register at www.register.miamibeachparks.com beginning March 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Event: 5V5 Adult Basketball League Date: March 2-May 11, 2022 Time: 7:00 p.m. -10:30 p.m. Location: North Shore Youth Center Fee: $500 per team (10 max participants per team) A total of 8 teams will engage in a 10-week, 5 vs. 5 league on Wednesday nights, with officiated games and stats tracking. League will end on May 11 th with an awards ceremony. Event: Date: Time: Location: Senior's Bingo Night March 10, 2022 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Miami Beach Convention Center-Sunset Vista Ballroom (Entrance on Convention Center Drive Side) The City of Miami Beach will host a Senior's Bingo night, where guests will enjoy an evening of refreshments, food and fun. The event is free for seniors, and transportation will be provided from designated pick-up locations. Seniors may RSVP in person at North Shore Park (501 72nd Street), Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Avenue), and Flamingo Park (999 11th Street). Event: Play Time Tortoise Outreach Program with the Miami Beach Library Date: March 18, 2022 Time: 10:00 a.m. -11 :00 a.m. Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Avenue) Join Jocko and Pebble, two very cute and very friendly Redfoot Tortoises for some exciting turtle- themed stories and a take-home craft. After the 30-minute story-time, each participant will gain some science enrichment through an up-close personal encounter with Jocko and Pebble where they will get to feel their texture and observe their behavior. They can also test their luck on a variety of different games and activities. DocuSign Envelope ID: 6A5EA4CE-B0F2-4F0A-8868-089C4ADB5D12 Event: Surf Camp for Children with ASD Date: March 20 -25, 2022 * Meet and Greet-March 20, 2022 at Normandy Isle Park and Pool (7030 Trouville Esplanade) from 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. * Surf Camp -March 21 -25, 2022 at South Pointe Park (1 Washington Avenue) Time: 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. The University of Miami -Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UM-NSU CARD) is teaming up with the City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department to host the 12th Annual Surf Camp for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Participating children will spend the week focusing on swimming skills, basic oceanography, meteorology, open water surfing and most importantly, their own abilities. The educational component of camp will be held at South Pointe Park and the actual surfing component will be held on the beach, adjacent to the park. Event: Rock Your Socks-World Down Syndrome Awareness Day Date: March 21, 2022 Time: 9:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Location: All Spring Break Camp Locations Participants in the spring break programs are encouraged to wear their most colorful, fun socks. Fundraisers for pizza or cupcakes will be sold with all proceeds benefiting the National Down Syndrome Society.
