Hudak, City Mana ~ DATE : March 1, 2022 SUBJECT: Miami Beach Fire Cadets Competed in Florida Winter Fire Games On February 12, 2022, the Miami Beach Fire Cadets participated in the Florida Fire Chiefs ' Association's 7th Annual Florida Winter Fire Games , Fire Rescue Cadets , which took place in St. Augustine, Florida. A total of 26 teams and 104 cadets represented multiple departments in Florida and Georgia. In Miami Beach's first-ever fire cadet competition, the challenges consisted of firefighting skills such as the Barrel Push, Victim Rescue, Communication Drill, Firefighter Relay, Rapid Doff & Don, and Firefighter Knowledge Relay. The cadets exhibited excellent teamwork, communication, and determination in every challenge. Led by firerfighter Michael Sica and Parks and Recreation's Gaby Avariano, the fire cadets who proudly represented the Miami Beach Fire and Parks and Recreation departments were Chase Brown (age 16), Alexa Martinez (age 14 ), Viviana Blanco (age 15), Joshua Soto (age 15), Nicolas Kusich (age 16), Paul Benedicto (age 16), Nicola Fabbri (age 16), and Tiva Prado (age 17). The fire cadet program is supported by Miami Beach Fire Chief Virgil Fernandez, Parks and Recreation Director John Rebar, and MBlife's non-profit organization.
