Hudak, City Manag ~ DATE: March 11, 2022 SUBJECT: Visit from Department of Elder Affairs Secretary The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to inform the Mayor and City Commission that our partners at UNIDAD were nominated by the Alliance on Aging to represent Public Service Area 11 (Miami-Dade County) as the agency to represent all funding recipients of Older American Act Funding distributed by the Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA). DOEA Secretary Michelle Branham will be visiting on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 11 :30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. for her first post-pandemic visit to South Florida. In addition to touring the North Beach Senior Center during her visit , Secretary Branham will join the seniors at the congregate meal site. A short program will welcome the Secretary, with remarks from representatives from UNI DAD of Miami Beach, the City of Miami Beach and the Alliance for the Aging. We are very honored to be able to showcase the North Beach Senior Center, our DOEA funded programming, as well as other senior socialization and recreational activities offered in partnership with various funding agencies. The Mayor and Commission and City staff are encouraged to attend.
