SUBJECT: Convention Center Hotel Project (Hotel) -Grand Hyatt Miami Beach
Surface Parking Lot (P-29) -Temporary Closure
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission ("L TC") is to advise you that last week's root pruning
of over 50 trees located at the surface parking lot behind the Fillmore needed to be postponed due
to some equipment issues of the contractor performing the work. The work has been rescheduled
for April 22 and April 28, 2022 and will also include trimming of large canopy trees in preparation
for future relocations.
This work is being done early in the process of preparing the site for the future Hotel, to assure as
much survivability of the trees as possible which are being relocated to other City-owned sites.
A Tree Work Permit was issued on March 15, 2022 and all activities are being supervised by a
certified arborist. The parking lot will re-open to the public once work is complete and will remain
available until this summer when the other construction activities associated with the Hotel early
work will commence.
