SUBJECT: Mauve Dance Crew Perfect Season
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to congratulate Parks and Recreation 's Teen Club
hip hop dance team, known as "The Mauve Crew", for winning Grand Champion and the Best a
Dance award in Florida Cheer and Dance Association's Show of Champions competition.
The Mauve Crew placed 1st in their division and earned the Best of Dance award for scoring the
highest in overall dance divisions. The competition took place on April 23, 2022 , at the University
of Central Florida's Addition Arena. Mauve Crew is sponsored in part by the Miami Beach All
Stars program .
The team went undefeated all year, placing 1st in every competition below:
• February 5, 2022 Florida Cheer and Dance Association's "Miami Meltdown"
• March 12, 2022 Florida Cheer and Dance Association's "Beach Battle"
• April 3, 2022 United States Cheer Association-US National Cheerleading
and Dance Championships
• April 9, 2022 Florida Cheer and Dance Association's "Florida State
Championships"
• April 23 , 2022 Florida Cheer and Dance Association's "Show of Champions"
Among those who proudly represented the City of Miami Beach throughout the dance season
include Head Coach Melissa Yanes, Assistant Coach Kayla Pena and dance team members
Chloe Fuller (age 12), Danya Babolal (age 13), Ludmilla Amado (age 14), Macarena Da Torre
(age 14), Marie Zinsou (age 13), Shamar Hylton (age 13), Sofia Almanza (age 12), Valentina
Avila (age 12) and Yahaira Pelayo (age 14).
The team practiced 4-6 hours a week during the season and maintained an undefeated streak
through hard work and dedication . The Mauve Crew is proud to be the only competitive team
representing the City of Miami Beach and they look forward to competing next season to keep
their undefeated streak alive .
