SUBJECT : Pre-Application Opening for Miami Beach Section 8 Housing
The purpose of this LTC is to notify the Mayor and City Commission that The
Housing Authority of the City of Miami Beach (HACMB) will accept online pre-
applications from 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday,
July 28, 2022 for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program Waiting
List. Pre-applications will only be available for completion online at the following
website: https://miamibeach.myhousing.com
The Office of Housing and Community Services will be providing assistance to
any families and individuals that need help completing the pre-application for
the upcoming Section 8 voucher lottery.
To receive assistance with the pre-application, families and individuals can
come to City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive, first floor. (Double doors
between the two outside elevators). The hours of operation are 8:30am to
l 2noon (closed for lunch between l 2noon to l pm) and l pm to 5pm .
Key points for the application process:
• Pre-applications will on ly be accepted through the online form.
• Families and individuals must meet income limit requirements.
• All pre-applications received during this period will be considered as
applying at the same time.
• A computer lottery will randomly select 3,000 pre-applicants.
• Local Preference for Selection of Eligible Families : 62 years or older,
disabled, living or working in the City of Miami Beach, U.S. Veterans, or
surviving spouses of U.S. Veterans.

THE SECTION 8 HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER (HCV) PROGRAM
■ The Housing Authority of the City of Miami Beach (HACMB) will accept online pre-applications from 9:00
a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022 for the Section 8 Housing
Choice Voucher (HCV) Program Waiting List.
■ A computer lottery process will randomly select 3,000 pre-applications. All pre-applications
received during this period will be considered as applying at the same time. It does not matter if a pre-
application is received on the first day or the last day.
■ The Section 8 HCV Waiting List will close at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Pre-applications will ONLY be available for completion online at the following website:

Pre-applications will not be available at the Housing Authority of the City of Miami Beach offices.
Telephone, fax, and email requests will not be accepted. Applicants may use any computer, tablet or
smart phone with internet access to apply, including free computers at public libraries.
The HACMB encourages requests for reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities to be
made in advance in writing to the Housing Authority of the City of Miami Beach, Section 8 Department,
200 Alton Road, Miami Beach, FL 33139. Requests must be received no later than Friday, July 22 ,
2022.
Families selected must meet the following guidelines:

2. Local preference for Selection of Eligible Families: 62 years or older, disabled, living or working
in the city of Miami Beach, U.S. Veteran, or surviving spouse of a U.S. Veteran.
Preferences are solely added at the time of pre-application and solely determined at the time of
eligibility. Once the position of a family is determined, preferences and date and time of pre-
application no longer apply.
■ Pre-applications will only be accepted when completed and submitted online.
• Only the 3,000 randomly selected pre-applications will be notified via USPS regular mail of their placement
on the waiting list.
■ No telephone calls, walk-ins, or mail-ins of pre-applications will be accepted.
■ Only one pre-application per household will be considered throughout the process. Applicants will receive
a receipt number as confirmation of the online submission. Any pre-application that is not fully and
accurately completed will be disqualified. Any household that submits more than one pre-application for
the waiting list will have all pre-applications voided.
■ Applicants should note that there is never a fee to apply for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV)
Program operated by the HACMB.

• La Autoridad de Viviendas de la Ciudad de Miami Beach (HACMB) aceptara par media del internet pre-
solicitudes para la Lista de Espera para el programa de asistencia de rentas Housing Choice Voucher (HCV).
Las Pre-Solicitudes en linea se aceptaran desde las 9:00 AM del Lunes 25 de Julio de 2022 hasta las 4:00
PM del Jueves 28 de Julio de 2022 inclusive.
• Se seleccionaran 3,000 pre-solicitudes al azar por medio de un sorteo computarizado. Todas las pre-
solicitudes recibidas durante este periodo de tiempo se consideraran coma si fueran recibidas al mismo
tiempo. No importa si la pre-solicitud fue recibida el primer o el ultimo dia.
• La Lista de Espera para la Secci6n 8 se cerrara a las 4:00 P.M. del Jueves 28 de Julio de 2022.

Las preferencias seran solamente agregadas en el momenta de la solicitud y solamente determinadas
en el momenta de la elegibilidad. Una vez que la posici6n de una familia es determinada, tanto las
preferencias, coma fecha y momenta de las solicitudes dejan de aplicar.
• Las pre-solicitudes solamente se aceptaran una vez completas y enviadas en linea.
• Solamente los 3,000 pre-candidatos seleccionados al azar recibiran notificacion por USPS correo
regular de su inclusion en la Lista de Espera.
• No se aceptaran llamadas telefonicas, pre-solicitudes enviadas por correo, ni entregadas o
depositadas en persona.
• Durante el proceso solamente se considerara una pre-solicitud por nucleo familiar. Todo solicitante
recibira un numero de confirmacion en linea. Solicitudes incompletas seran descalificadas. Si una
familia presenta mas de una pre-solicitud de inclusion en la lista de espera, todas guedaran
anuladas.
• Solicitantes deben saber gue la Autoridad de Viviendas nunca cobra cuota alguna por solicitudes
para participar en el programa Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) operado por HACMB.
