Hudak, City Mana� DATE: August 3, 2022 SUBJECT: MIAMI-DADE COUNTY BEACH CORRIDOR RAPID TRANSIT PROJECT BAY CROSSING OR TRUNKLINE DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AND PUBLIC MEETING The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to inform the Mayor and City Commission that, pursuant to a briefing held on August 1, the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) has advised that the Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) for the Beach Corridor Rapid Transit Project Bay Crossing or Trunkline is available for public review and comment. Please click here to review the draft report. The Draft EA was prepared as part of the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) phase of the Beach Corridor project - a Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan project linking the cities of Miami Beach and Miami -to satisfy the National Environmental Policy Act requirements. Furthermore, DTPW advised that it will be hosting a hybrid public meeting on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 6 p.m. in the Miami Beach Regional Library at 227 22 Street. Attached is the notification from the County with additional details on the public meeting. A comment period for the DEA will be open until August 19, 2022. Comments regarding the DEA can be submitted at DTPW-BCT-EA@miamidade.gov to be incorporated in the public record. City staff from key departments, including Transportation and Mobility, Environment and Sustainability, Planning, and Public Works will be reviewing and providing comments on the DEA. Attachment: Miami-Dade County DTPW Public Meeting Notification A�M 322-2022 Public Notice Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) Beach Corridor Rapid Transit Project Hybrid Public Meeting The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) has scheduled a hybrid public meeting regarding the Miami-Dade SMART Program Beach Corridor Rapid Transit Project on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Miami Beach Regional Library at 227 22nd St., Miami Beach, FL 33139. The meeting will be held simultaneously on Zoom for those who would like to attend remotely through this virtual platform. Registration is required to participate via Zoom. To register, please visit www.miamidade.gov/virtual-meetings. Click Department Meetings, find the meeting date and time, and select the meeting you wish to attend. The Beach Corridor Rapid Transit Project is a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study and is part of the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Program. The project goal is to provide rapid transit connections from the Miami Design District/ Midtown and Downtown Miami, along I- 395/SR A1A (MacArthur Causeway), to the Miami Beach Convention Center area. At the meeting, DTPW will present findings from the evaluation of the engineering and environmental effects of the Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) unanimously selected by the Transportation planning Organization (TPO) in 2020. A Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) for the Beach Corridor Trunkline from the existing Metromover system at Downtown Miami to 5th Street and Washington Avenue in the City of Miami Beach has been prepared to satisfy the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The public is encouraged to visit the Beach Corridor’s webpage to review the document and provide comments.
