SUBJECT: COMMISSION CHAMBER RENOVATION PROJECT UPDATE
The purpose of this L TC is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the status of the
Commission Chambers remodeling project.
The existing Commission Chamber has received only minor refurbishments since entering service
in 1976. Additionally, the existing audiovisual equipment in the room is obsolete and in need of
upgrading in order to remain current.
The Commission Chamber Renovation project consists of a full finish replacement of the existing
as well as a redesign of the existing dais and lecterns . Additional enhancements include upgraded
lighting and acoustics , new broadcast-quality audio visual equipment and the addition of a new
Mayor and Commission staff-only dais entry on the west side of the room.
The project will affect approximately 4,025 square feet of the 3rd and 4th floors of the Commission
Chamber.
Permit Drawings were received from William Lane Architect, Inc. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 .
Upon receipt, the Permit Set was distributed to Harbour Construction, Inc. (the General
Contractor) for pricing and submitted to the City 's Building Department for permitting .
We expect to issue the contractor a Notice to Proceed (or NTP) in September with mobilization
onsite expected by Tuesday, November 22 nd of this year. The Construction phase of the project
has an approximate duration of three (3) months, with an anticipated Substantial Comp letion date
of March 14, 2023 .
We are taking steps to host Commission and Committee meetings scheduled during the
construction of the Commission Chambers at an alternate location. Should you have any
