Granado, City Clerk '/ Zj September 20, 2022 SUBJECT: Black Affairs Advisory Committee Motions -September 20, 2022 The purpose of this letter to the Mayor and Commission is to provide an update regarding three motions made during the September 20, 2022 Black Affairs Advisory Committee ("BMC") Meeting: 1. The Black Affairs Advisory Committee supports the local hire preference ordinance proposed by Vice-Mayor Alex Fernandez . Motion was made by Troy Wright and seconded by lmani Warren. Motion passed unanimously . 2. The Black Affairs Advisory Committee supports the Arthur McDuffie landmark memorial in Miami-Dade County . Motion was made by Troy Wright and seconded by lmani Warren . Motion passed unanimously. 3. The Black Affairs Advisory Committee supports Miami Dade County's new budget item that will provide resources for communities of color for a more equitable outcome. This budget item was presented by Jason Smith, Director of Equity and Inclusion, Office of Miami Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. Motion was made by lmani Warren and seconded by Troy Wright.
