SUBJECT: Snag Golf Programming for Miami Beach Parks & Recreation After-
School Program Participants
The purpose of this L TC is to inform the Mayor and Commission of the partnership between
Professional Course Management (PCM) -Miami Beach and Normandy Shores Golf Clubs'
management group -and the Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department. Beginning in
October, PCM and the Parks and Recreation staff will introduce after-school program participants
to the fundamentals of golf where kids will "birdie", "eagle ", and "bogey" their way into learning a
new sport.
Participants will be introduced to the basics of golf using SNAG golf equipment. SNAG stands for
Starting New At Golf, and this new teaching system provides a fun and way to learn the basics of
golf. Space is limited to the first 18 participants to sign up at each after-school site. At the
conclusion of the program , participants will go on a scheduled field trip to one of the golf courses
and receive a tour of the facility, as well as have an opportunity to showcase the skills they learned
on the greens.
This program is made possible through grants from the Florida Junior Golf Council and funds
raised at the annual golf outing from the Billy-Gene Memorial Golf Tournament.
