Sustainability Committee Motion -Environmental Considerations for
Beach Corridor Rapid Transit Project
Dear Honorable Mayor and City Commission,
The Sustainability Committee met on September 29, 2022 and passed the motion below:
The Sustainability Committee encourages the Mayor and City Commission to urge the Miami-Dade County
Department of Transportation and Public Works to take the following steps regarding the Beach Corridor
Rapid Transit Project -Bay Crossing. In addition to conducting the environmental assessment to determine
the impacts on the coral reefs and seagrass beds in Biscayne Bay:
proactively minimize environmental impacts, and
take into consideration the lessons learned from past projects where environmental impacts in
Biscayne Bay were greater than anticipated.
