Planning Board Recommendation - Demolitions.
On December 20, 2022, the Planning Board held a discussion regarding building demolitions. As part
of this discussion the Board unanimously approved the following motion with seven (7) members
present:
1. Recommend that the city explore the potential for increasing the notice distance requirement,
the notification period, and require that tenants be notified in addition to owners, for demolitions
by dynamic methods, if determined to be permissible by the Florida Building Code.
2. Recommend that the city explore the potential for requiring the owner of the site being
demolished to cover the cost of repairs for off-site damage associated with demolition and to
cover the cost of notification.
