City-Sponsored Citizenship Drive
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to announce that the Office of Housing and Community
Services and Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC), in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation
Department, are sponsoring a Citizenship Drive on Saturday April 1, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2p.m.
at North Shore Park Youth Center, located at 501 72 Street. On October 22, 2022, the City
sponsored its first citizenship drive, resulting in over 20 households applying for naturalization. The
citizenship drive will help U.S. permanent residents apply for U.S. citizenship at no cost.
Online registration is not mandatory, but highly recommended and encouraged. Walk-ins will also
be accepted.

Anyone interested in registering for the event in person can visit the Office of Housing and
Community Services, located at 765 17 Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. (closed for lunch from 12
p.m. to 1p.m.) and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., or they can call 305-673-7491
Families and individuals applying for U.S. Citizenship must meet the following
requirements:
• Be 18 years old or older; and
• Reside in the U.S. as a permanent resident for five (5) years and be physically present for
at least half of the 5-year period; or
• Reside in the US. as a permanent resident for three (3) years, and married to a US.
citizen. and be physically present in the United States for half of the 3-year period.
