Hudak, City Mana~ April 3, 2023 SPE1222-1243 - National Cycling League Cycling Event The purpose of this Letter to Comm ission is to pro vide an update to the upcoming special event National Cycling League and provide info rm ation on steps taken to inform the stakeholders and mem bers of the comm unity. T he fo llow ing event is scheduled to take place in the City of Miami Beach. Event: Date: Time: Location: National Cycling League Cycling Event Saturday, April 8, 2023 12 pm -8 pm Loop cycling tra ck on O cean Drive and W ashing ton Aven ue from 8" to 13" street, as seen in traffic advisory below On Friday, April 7, 2023, the National Cycling League will begin their load in for a professional and com m unity cycling event in the City of Miam i Beach. This will require a ro ad closure beginning at 12 p.m . betw een 12 Street and 10 Street on O cean Drive. This section will remain cl osed until the concl usion of the event the next day. The event w ill take place on Saturday, April 8, 2023, and will require ro ad closures on Ocean Drive betw een 8 Street and 13 Street beginning at 5 a.m . until 8 p.m. The northbound lanes of W ashington A venue between 8 Street and 13 Street will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. for set up and w ill reopen at 8 p.m . when the com petition ends. T he southbound lanes betw een 15 Street and 7 Street on W ashington Avenue will be delineated to allow tw o-way traffic from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., allowing traffic to flow north and south in single lanes. Em ergency vehicl es, public tra nsportation, and residents will have access throughout the cycling loop. Accomm odations w ill be made fo r pedestrians and vehicles for local access at 8 Street, 13 Street and C ollins Avenue. Interm ittent access during race time will occur every tw o (2) minutes thro ugh the duration of the event. Pedestrian traffic will also be accommodated betw een O cean Drive to W ashington Avenue on 9,10, an d 12 Streets will remain between C ollins and W ashington to pedestrian traffic. In addition, the cro sswalks throughout the cycling LTC 157-2023 loop w ill be staffed w ith a Course Marshall and a Miami Beach Police Officer that will m itigate the pedestrian and vehicle cro ssing in a safe manner. A ll events are expected to com plete the course by 8 p.m. to allow the ro ads to reopen. Most roads w ill be open befo re that tim e due to ro lling reopening pro cedures. This fam ily-friendly activation will feature a Fan Fest on O cean Drive and 11 Street, a Kids Race and a C om m unity Bike Ride hosted by Break The Cycle.
