On September 14, 2022, the BAAC supported the local hire preference ordinance proffered by then Vice-Mayor Alex Fernandez. This policy was subsequently recommended by the Finance & Economic Resiliency Committee. The BAAC and F&E Resiliency Committee recognize the significant advantages of hiring local qualified residents that have a greater personal knowledge of the city and a long-term personal stake in the community. The BAAC thanks the Mayor and Commission for passing this resolution on April 28th, 2023 to encourage greater job opportunities for Miami Beach residents. 2. Deputy Chief Wayne A.
