The following motion was approved at the June 20, 2023 meeting of the Audit Committee: Motion: The City of Miami Beach Audit Committee opposes the proposed amendment to remove the internal audit function from the Office of the Inspector General. The Audit Committee members believe that the OIG is the best way for the City to ensure independence and transparency in its internal audit function, consistent with the intent of the original ordinance and the trend toward establishing offices of inspector general to provide independent oversight of local government.
