Hudak, City Manag~ ne 21,202s [Y' SUBJECT: Rent/ Utility Assistance and Mortgage Relief Programs Update The purpose of this Letter to Commission ("LTC") is to notify the Mayor and City Commission of the status of rental assistance and mortgage relief programs available to City of Miami Beach residents. City of Miami Beach CDBG-CV Rent/Utility/Mortgage Assistance The Office of Housing and Community Services was notified by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity on February 27, 2023, that the City has been awarded $381,620 in CDBG-CV funds. These funds will be used to provide financial assistance to qualifying Miami Beach residents at risk of eviction or utility shut-off. The City's assistance will include up to six (6) consecutive months of rent/mortgage and utilities payable to the mortgage company, landlord or utility service, respectively, upon verification of eligibility (80% Area Median Income (AMI)). All applicants must provide proof of lawful presence in the United States, such as a permanent resident card, or U.S. passport. Starting on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 9:00 am, the City will be accepting applications for rent, mortgage and utility assistance for eligible Miami Beach households. Interested residents can request an appointment by visiting https://apps.miamibeachfl.gov/housing and once registered, they will receive a document checklist for their submission during the appointment. Residents can also call 305-673-7491 to make an appointment. The Administration will continue accepting applications while funding is available. Miami-Dade County Emergency Rental Assistance Program As of February 6, 2023, the Miami-Dade County Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) continues to be paused due to demand exceeding available resources. Miami-Dade County Mortgage Relief Program The Mortgage Relief Program (MRP) provides assistance to eligible Miami-Dade County homeowners who are experiencing hardship and struggling to pay their mortgage and/or utility bills.
