The purpose of this Letter to the Commission ("L TC") is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of a motion passed by the Miami Beach Production Industry Council ("PIC") during their Thursday, July 13, 2023, meeting. At the meeting, staff presented proposed changes to the Special Events Guidelines, which included language based on a Commission referral. The proposed change would add "mailed notice" within a certain radius of an event to advise individual residential units of events being discussed at an upcoming Special Events Community Review meeting. MOTION: Motion opposing the proposed revision made to the Special Events Guidelines for Resident Notification for events. The Council proposed that the notification for Special Events be conveyed electronically to residential buildings and HOAs to be aligned with the City of Miami Beach's sustainability initiative. The electronic notification would include the City on copy for verification. Motion was moved by Barbara Goicoechea and seconded by Randi Freedman.
