SUBJECT: Black Affairs Advisory Committee Motion -- August 01, 2023
The purpose of this letter to the Mayor and Commission is to provide an update regarding a
motion made during the August 01, 2023 Black Affairs Advisory Committee ("BAAC")
Meeting:
MOTION: The BAAC is requesting a multi-year annual $200,000 sponsorship agreement
totaling $600,000 from the City of Miami Beach to host three consecutive American Black Film
Festivals in Miami Beach for 2024, 2025 and 2026, including a waiver of special event fees for
each festival and any additional in kind contributions as deemed necessary.
Motion was made by Brigitte Andrade and seconded by Troy Wright. Motion passed
unanimously.
Members in attendance: Glendon Hall (Chair), Bibi Andrade (Vice-Chair), Troy E. Wright,
Melba Pearson, William Warren, Dorrie Foster, Siwipe Anderson, and Henry Williams.
Guests in attendance: Jeff Friday, CEO of American Black Film Festival and
