Hudak, ciy Manage#)\k September 5, 2023 \}/\') SUBJECT: City-sponsored Citizenship Drive The purpose of this LTC is to notify the Mayor and City Commission that the Office of Housing and Community Services and Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC), in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department, are providing a Citizenship Drive on Saturday, September 9,· 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North Shore Park Youth Center, located at 501 724 Street. The citizenship drive will help U.S. permanent residents apply for U.S. citizenship at no cost. The City previously sponsored citizenship drives on October 22, 2022 and April 1, 2023, together resulting in over forty (40) households applying for naturalization. Online registration is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended and encouraged. Walk-ins will also be accepted. • Families and individuals that wish to participate may register at: Citizenship Drive in Miami Beach (everyaction.com) • Families and individuals that wish to volunteer at the event may register at: Volunteer for our Citizenship Drive in Miami Beach (everyaction.com) Anyone interested in registering for the event in person can visit the Office of Housing and Community Services, located at 765 17 Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. (closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 1p.m.) and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., or they can call 305-673-7491. Families and individuals applying for U.S. citizenship must meet the following requirements: • Be 18 years old or older; and • Reside in the U.S. as a permanent resident for five (5) years and be physically present for at least half of the 5-year period; or • Reside in the U.S. as a permanent resident for three (3) years and married to a U.S. citizen, and be physically present in the United States for half of the 3-year period.
