SUBJECT: Procurement Department Earns NIGP's Quality Public Procurement
Department (QPPD) Accreditation
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to inform the Mayor and City Commission
that the Procurement Department has earned the National Institute for Governmental
Procurement's (NIGP) Quality Public Procurement Department (QPPD) accreditation.
According to NIGP, the QPPD accreditation recognizes excellence in public procurement
and is awarded to public procurement departments that have demonstrated that their
operations, practices, and abilities are consistent with established best practices and
standards. With this accreditation, the Miami Beach Procurement Department joins the
ranks of a small group of elite organizations that have achieved this rigorous
accreditation. In fact, of the more than 3,000 governmental agencies across the United
States and Canada that hold NIGP membership, only 165, or about 5%, have attained
this distinction.
This impressive achievement is a testament to the hard work and perseverance of our
procurement team, who strive daily to excel in the delivery of service to all stakeholders
while maximizing taxpayer resources and the public trust through the highest ethical
standards, strategic thinking, and transparency.
