SUBJECT: City-sponsored Event for Individuals Qualifying for Temporary Protected
Status
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to notify the Mayor and City
Commission that the Office of Housing and Community Services and Florida Immigrant
Coalition (FLIC), in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department, are providing
a Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Employment Authorization Drive for nationals of
Ukraine and Haiti on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North Shore Park
Youth Center, located at 501 72nd street.
On October 22, 2022, April 1, 2023, and September 9, 2023, the City sponsored
citizenship drives, resulting in several households applying for naturalization. FLIC is
focusing this event to allow individuals from the countries listed below to register for
temporary protected status or renew their current employment authorizations, in
accordance with the federal government's registration deadlines.
The countries eligible for registration or re-registration in the month of October include:
Haiti: Registration Period - Jan. 26, 2023 - Aug. 3, 2024
Ukraine: Re-Registration Period - Aug. 21, 2023 - Oct. 20, 2023 and
Registration Period -Aug. 21, 2023 - Ap ril 19, 2025
Online registration is not mandatory but it is highly recommended and encouraged. Walk-
ins will also be accepted. Anyone interested in volunteering or registering for the event in
person can visit the Office of Housing and Community Services, located at 765 17 Street,
from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. (closed from 12 p.m. to 1p.m.) and 1p.m. to 5 p.m., or they can
call 305-673-7491.
