SUBJECT: Art in Public Places Maintenance -Elmgreen & Dragset, Bent Pool (2019)
and Jaume Plensa, Minna (2022)
The purpose of this letter to the Mayor and Commission is to inform you that annual
maintenance and conservation work will take place at the Elmgreen & Dragset sculpture,
Bent Pool (2019) and Jaume Plensa sculpture, Minna (2022) from November 20-22, 2023.
Bent Pool will be cleaned with a conservation-grade detergent and small chipped paint
areas will be filled with conservation grade paint rated for outdoor use. Minna will be
cleaned to remove dirt and basic discoloration. Work will be documented with a written
report and photographs before, during and after treatment.
There will be a conservation team on site performing the work beginning at 8:00 AM on
Monday, November 20, 2023. Please note, a lift will be in use in order to access the upper
areas of the Bent Pool sculpture. Both sculptures are located in Pride Park on Convention
Center Drive. This work is conducted annually as part of the Art in Public Places
maintenance and conservation plan.
