Par4 T/g£29 4 City Manager>_L4 4+ SUBJECT: USE OF RECREATIONAL FACILITIES BY ALL SCHOOLS (BOTH PAROCHIAL AND PRIVATE) WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF MIAMI BEACH The Recreation Department, throughout the year, receives periodic requests to use various recreation facilities, such as softball fields, tennis courts, swimming pools, etc. from local private/parochial schools. These requests are usually for use during normal working hours and cause little, if any, impact on the facility. AE the present time, the authorized fee schedule for these types of usages is Resolution #82-17124, Rental Rates for Recreation Facilities (Single Event Only). In December 1982, the City Commission approved use of recreational facilities by any public school within the city limits of Miami Beach, with payment only of direct costs incurred, such as lights, personnel, etc. It appears appropriate that we extend this courtesy to all Beach schools. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION : The Administration recommends any school within the city limits of Miami Beach, be permitted to use requested recreational facilities without charge; however, they must pay for direct costs, such as lights, personnel, etc., incurred by the City. Additionally, all mandated insurance coverages must be provided in a timely fashion. BGS:eji Attachment 0 AGER pr': » -.
