Miami Beach Police Department Annual Holiday Toy Giveaway Event
This Letter to the Mayor and Commission is to extend an invitation to attend the Miami Beach
Police Athletic League's and the Miami Beach Police Department's 42nd Annual Holiday Toy
Giveaway on Saturday, December 16th , 2023, from 08:00 a.m. till approximately 12:00 p.m.
Toys will be delivered to the 400 registered children at their residences within the City of Miami
Beach. Officers from the Miami Beach Police Department and volunteers from the USMC Reserve
Unit from the 4th Civil Affairs Group in Hialeah will begin loading police cars at 09:00 a.m. in front
of the department with toys. The volunteer officers will then deliver the toys to the registered family.
Each year, through the generosity of the Miami Beach community (private citizens, local
businesses, civic organizations, Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (MDGLCC),
and many more), funds are donated to the Miami Beach Police Athletic League (PAL), a registered
501(c)3 organization, for this event. The Miami Beach Police Department then partners with PAL
to deliver the toys. It is a special moment for both the police officers who take time out of their day
to volunteer and the child receiving the only toys they may get this holiday season. At PAL, we
have set out on a mission to cultivate a positive relationship between law enforcement and our
community's youth. This is a perfect example of a bonding experience that will then turn into a core
memory for the child and will hopefully lead to a positive outlook on the officers who protect and
serve our community daily. The joy and happiness this event brings to these children makes the
event extremely rewarding for all those involved.
This event will be in dedication to Miami Beach PAL's Executive Director, Officer Arthur Martineau,
as he continues his battle against cancer.
