Cultural Arts Council Motions-December 14, 2023
The purpose of this letter to the Mayor and Commission is to provide an update regarding
motions made during the December 14, 2023, Cultural Arts Council meeting regarding the
Cultural Arts Council Grant Program.
During the meeting, Council members discussed ways to amend the Cultural Arts Council
Grant guidelines to allow for continued improvement in the selection of the grantees,
considering that historically more applications are received every year.
Motion 1:
Add to the guidelines: Grantees must have at least two (2) distinct events or
programming in Miami Beach in order to be eligible for funding. Multiday programming for
the same event is considered one event or program.
The above motion was made by Ami Glottmann, seconded by Sarah Leddick, and
approved unanimously by the council.
Motion 2:
Add to the guidelines: Extra consideration within the panel rubric is given to
organizations that present works within the months of June, July, August, and September,
and is also given to organizations that take advantage of various geographic regions of
Miami Beach.
The above motion was made by Bruce Carter, seconded by David Sexton, and approved
unanimously by the council.
