City of Miami Beach, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139, www.miamibeachfl.gov OFFICE OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS, Tel: 305.673.7575 MEDIA ALERT Melissa Berthier, Email: melissaberthier@miamibeachfl.gov Matt Kenny, Email: mattkenny@miamibeachfl.gov FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sept. 13, 2022 Gift of Life Miami Beach Day — The event will feature an introduction between a transplant recipient and her donor — Miami Beach, FL – The City of Miami Beach invites members of the media to join us for Gift of Life Miami Beach Day on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. The event will feature an emotional introduction of a transplant recipient to her heroic bone marrow donor through the Gift of Life Marrow Registry, which is dedicated to saving lives by finding blood stem cell and bone marrow transplants for patients battling leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell anemia, inherited immune disorders and other blood-related diseases. Gift of Life is searching for donor matches for three patients in urgent need of transplants. All City of Miami Beach employees and the public will have the opportunity to swab their cheeks during the event and join Gift of Life's Registry of volunteer donors. Representatives will be on hand to help with registration and answer questions outside the Commission Chamber at Miami Beach City Hall.
